Preface
All power plants use an energy source which provides mechanical, thermal, chemical or electric energy. This energy is transformed into electric current. In the area of thermal energy generation modern combustion and gasification technologies are being developed, which are related to the zero-emission-power plant. Objectives of the development of these new technologies are lower power generation costs ( cent / kWh ), lower emissions, high availability and long service life of the power plant.
The chair activities in research and development are covering the following topics:
- Mathematic modelling of power plants and their components, stationary and instationary behaviour, thermal design and optimisation of energy technical processes
- Concept studies and pre-planning for power plants, combined heat and power plants
- Combustion research and trouble shooting in industrial firings
- Energetic usage of renewable resources
- Efficiency-boosting measures for conventional power plants and modern approaches of time based maintenance
